PANAJI: For most part of Wednesday, the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) suspended service to Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi due to the North Karnataka farmers’ strike, inviting a loss of nearly a lakh rupees. Operations, however, resumed by evening.
“By suspending the eight buses to Belagavi, KTCL incurred a loss of about Rs 60,000,” said assistant traffic superintendent, KTCL, Panaji, Prasad Subedar.
“Karnataka state transport operates about 12 buses between Belagavi and Goa, which were suspended. Taking cue, KTCL suspended its Belagavi buses,” a KTCL staffer said. KTCL incurred a loss of Rs 20,000 by suspending its lone bus on the Hubballi-Dharwad route, said assistant traffic superintendent, KTCL, Margao, Valent Esteves. “No passengers were stranded,” he added.
Operations resumed in the evening. “Hubballi-Dharwad buses don’t ply in the evening so the service will resume on Thursday morning.
